First National Conference on Carbon Sequestration

Carbon Sequestration Site Sidebar Sponsored by DOE's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), the First National Conference on Carbon Sequestration, to be held in Washington, DC, on 14-17 May 2001, will be the first-ever national meeting focused solely on carbon sequestration. The conference will offer overviews of promising sequestration technologies, present industry perspectives, and highlight current carbon sequestration research activities. It is anticipated that the wide range of topics to be covered will be of interest to scientists, engineers, students, and energy and environmental policy makers.

Topic Areas:

  • Separation and Capture
  • Sequestration of CO2 in Geologic Formations
  • Enhancing Natural Sinks
  • Advanced Conversion and Utilization Concepts
  • Modeling and Assessments
  • Emissions Trading and Offsets
  • Policy Issues

The goal of this conference is to provide a forum for technical exchanges on new, groundbreaking approaches to capture and sequester greenhouse gases associated with energy production and utilization. The program will cover both innovative and evolving approaches to reducing the carbon emissions from fossil fuel conversion for the entire range of audience awareness.
